School uniform

Sandgate Primary School encourages all pupils to wear the appropriate school uniform which is detailed below:

The basic school colour for sweatshirts/cardigans is royal blue (with school logo) and charcoal grey for trousers and skirts.

  • Charcoal grey pinafore dress, skirt or school trousers
  • White polo shirt
  • Royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan with school badge
  • Fleece jacket with school badge (optional)
  • Anorak or coat
  • Black school shoes, not trainers
  • Black or grey matching socks or grey tights
  • In the summer: blue and white gingham dress/charcoal grey shorts. Black school shoes/sandals.

For PE lessons: Royal blue t-shirt with school logo and navy blue shorts, plimsolls or trainers. Tracksuit trousers may be worn in the winter months.

PE/Kit Bags: Drawstring bags of any style, colour or design – clearly named. Please remember that space is limited. PE kit must be at school every day.

Please note

Hair styles must be reasonable and in sympathy with our school uniform. Extreme colours, spikes, shaving or sculpting is not considered suitable for school and should be reserved for holidays or weekends. Long hair should be tied back for health and safety reasons.

Jewellery is not allowed in school. Small studs or sleepers can only be worn in pierced ears.

Please note that earrings must be removed before participating in PE lessons (including swimming). If a child is not able to remove their own earrings parents should do so before school on a PE day. If there are exceptional circumstances which prevents this from being possible for a defined period of time, parents should provide a letter explaining the reasons and the date from which earrings can be removed. During this period the earrings will be made safe using micropore tape, however a teacher may ask a child wearing earrings not to participate in an activity if they feel the risk is sufficient.

All items of clothing and possessions must be clearly marked. The School cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to pupil’s personal property. A lost property box is kept for unnamed clothing and shoes.
