In Year Admissions
If you are a parent wishing to apply for a place for your child at our school you will need to complete the In Year Casual Admission Form (IYCAF). Please send the completed form back to school. You will need to fill in a separate form for each child.
If we are unable to offer a place your child’s name will be added to our waiting list. If you contact the school office you will be able to obtain information on where your child is on the waiting list. You have the right to appeal against the refusal of a place.
If you would like more information about joining our school please contact Miss Rebecca Fuggle, Admissions Officer, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
You can also find further information about the admissions process on Kent County Council Primary Admissions website.
Admissions September 2017
Children born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 will need to apply for a Primary School place for admissions in September 2017.
Open afternoon sessions for parents and children interested in a Reception place for September 2017 admissions are being held on:
Thursday 24th November from 1.30p.m.
Friday 25th November from 1.30p.m.
Monday 28th November from 1.30p.m.
Please note: the last tour starts at 2.30p.m.
Parents can arrive between 1.30pm – 2.30pm and are asked to sign in to a small group where you and your child will receive a guided tour of the school. You will also have a chance to speak to the Headteacher and Admissions Secretary.
To apply for a Primary school for your child for September 2017, you will need to complete a Common Application Form (RCAF).
The admissions process starts on Monday 7th November 2016. We strongly recommend that you apply online at:
Paper forms (RCAFs) are available to download from the K.C.C. website or are available from the School Office. Applications must be made by Monday 16th January 2017.
If you applied online you will receive an email from K.C.C. Admissions on 18th April 2017 after 4pm to tell you which school you have been offered. K.C.C. Admissions cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this depends on your email service provider. You can also log in after 5pm on 18th April 2017 to view your offer online.
If you applied by post, K.C.C. Admissions will send your offer by first class post on 18th April 2017.
If you are offered a place at Sandgate Primary School you will then need to inform us in writing as to whether you will accept the place by 15th May 2017.
At this point you will also need to provide the school with proof of address as to the only or main residence of your child. This will need to be in the form of:
- A utility bill and
- Bank or credit card statement and
- A child tax and working tax credit letter (TC602), the child’s medical card or a letter from a medical centre, hospital or GP, a letter from child’s nursery or playgroup or a bank statement of a savings account in the child’s name.
These documents should not be more than three months old and should show that the child was resident at the address at the time of the application closing date.
We need to see all three of these documents for every child being admitted (even those who have siblings at school already). If you are unable to provide the above documents, to prove your child’s only or main residence, the Local Authority has the right to take your child’s place away.
It is essential that the RCAF is completed and returned by the deadline indicated on the form for your child to be considered at any primary school. Should you require any further information regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
The Standard Number of children admitted into the Foundation year group at Sandgate Primary School is 60 per year group (30 children per class). If a school has more places than applications received, all children will be offered a place. However, if there are more applications than places available places will be allocated according to the admission criteria. Please see our Admissions Policy for further information.

Admissions for Pre-School Age Children
If your child is not old enough to start school yet (born after 31st August 2013), you may ‘register an interest’ at this school by filling in this form and returning it to the school office, you can email it to email@example.com.
‘Registering an interest’ at the school does not give your child priority for a place just because their name has been down longer than any other child.
When your child is old enough, the school will get in touch with you so that you can submit an admissions form for that year. The K.C.C. Admissions form that you will need to fill in is the Common Application Form (RCAF). This will be available to fill in online at www.kent.gov.uk/ola or can be collected from any primary school by you at the appropriate time, which is generally at the end of the Autumn Term before your child is due to commence the following Autumn.
