Safeguarding
At Sandgate Primary School every adult has a duty of care to all children.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:
- providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
- protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
- preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
- ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
The Government has produced a document called Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) which is updated annually or before if there any important changes which informs our safeguarding procedures and practices. We update our own school Child Protection Policy annually to reflect the changes in KCSIE.
WE ARE AN OPERATION ENCOMPASS SCHOOL
We will receive information from the police for any child who is experiencing or witnessing domestic abuse within the home setting. We will follow up any report in a timely and sensitive manner to offer families support. This follow up is made by a member of the Safeguarding Team/Designated Safeguarding Leads.
